Well said, my friend. It is sad how many of us go through similar experiences in life growing up in this patriarchy world and it sucks that we need to keep vigilant about EQUAL rights. Nevertheless, what you are doing matter and I loved reading your story, keep sharing your voice and honoring your pledge. 💗

Thank you for your kind words, amiga.

After publishing this story, I got many messages in private from friends sharing their first experiences with inequality. It's sad but not surprising that many of us have something similar to share. That's exactly what I intend to do in this space — create a conversation about how these personal, intimate stories reflect the flaws in our system and the perpetuation of patriarchal values that often lead to many women losing their lives.

Thank you for your kind words, W. I'm happy to hear my story took you on a journey.

I appreciate you for taking the time to leave me a message. The idea here is exactly that: start conversations!

I see that you intend to start off a Substack yourself, what are you planning on writing about? Wishing you much success in your endeavor. Remember: the pen is mightier than the sword! 😉

Incomplete comment: This is such a compelling and heartfelt story. I really appreciate you rising up to share your sorrow, and mostly your hope. We shall stand together and overcome patriarchy, and all the other forces that are trying to take away our humanity, our planet, and our love.

Glad this comment is incomplete - it's exactly what this space is about: engaging in ongoing conversations! I appreciate you for taking the time to read and sharing your perspective. The more I read and learn about the origins of patriarchy, I see its impact encrusted in many moments of my existence. Unfortunately, no experience is unique and I think many can relate to my story. But fortunately, because many can relate, we can come together as a collective that strategizes and makes a difference where we are. As I like to say, community is survival — and I’m grateful for you being part of mine!
